This is a 3-session taught hand building course which teaches the fundamentals of building hollow sculptures using clay. You will be fully supported as you learn to make pinch pot and carved sculptures.

Please come to the class with some ideas of what you would like to make, or forms you would like to explore, and we will discuss the feasibility with you.

These sessions are long enough that you would be able to make something relatively complicated/ a collection of simple forms, so think about things which explore textures, and details. People often make animal or human sculptures, which allow you to explore textured surfaces, fine detail and adding additional features. You can do anything though – in the past people have made abstract shapes and even a giant tooth!

We will glaze your finished sculpture in one of a few set glazes, or if you would like to explore all the glazing options and glaze the sculpture yourself, please book onto one of the ‘Glazing sessions (follow up)’ workshops at least 2 weeks after your initial workshop. We will finish them for you if you do not want to glaze them yourself.
